Jet ski rental is the fastest-turning part of the boat rental trade: short rentals, many handovers a day, and a customer who has often never driven one. Units and where you launch
Two to four personal watercraft is a working start; a single unit spends too much of the day idle between bookings and a fleet of ten needs staff you do not have yet. Each craft is its own unit with hours, fuel, a serial and a history. Where you launch matters as much: a beach or marina with parking, a place to brief riders, and fuel within reach.
Who may ride, and what they sign
Rules for operating a personal watercraft differ by country, province and state: age minimums, a boating licence or a temporary permit, and sometimes a safety briefing that must be documented. Confirm the rules for your water and put them on the booking page so a customer who cannot ride does not book.
At the dock, every rider signs a waiver, the person renting signs the agreement (where they may go, speed and distance rules, damage, fuel, late return), and the handover checklist records the condition and fuel level with photos. Deposits and fuel, without an argument
Hold a deposit on the card before the rider leaves that covers your deductible and a fuel fill, release it after check-in, and capture from it only with an itemised reason. Pricing and the calendar
Jet skis are priced by the half hour and the hour, with a day rate for the few who want it, and a seasonal premium in peak weeks. The calendar needs a short turnaround between bookings for refuelling and a walk-around, a maintenance hold when a unit is down, and the hours the dock is actually staffed.
