Jet ski rental is a high-turnover version of boat rental: hourly bookings, several riders per booking, a lot of paperwork per hour on the water. The operators that run smoothly have the paperwork and the payments automated so the dock crew can focus on the machines and the riders.
Fleet and hours
Two to four machines is a workable start on a busy lake; buy the same model so any machine can go out on any booking. Price by the hour and the half-day, with a two-hour minimum on weekends. Keep a buffer between rentals for refuelling and a walk-around.
Bookings in hours, not days
The calendar should show hourly slots per machine with the buffer built in, so a 10 to 12 booking makes the machine available again at 12:30, not 12:00. In Share Marketplace each machine has its own hourly availability and the storefront offers the slots that are actually free.
Every rider signs
Each rider is an adult signing their own waiver; a booking for four machines with six riders needs six. Send the links at booking, remind the day before, and let walk-ups sign on a phone at the dock. Operator requirements
Check the local rule: in Canada the operator of a personal watercraft needs proof of competency and there is a minimum age. Collect the card number at booking, verify it at the dock, and note it on the checklist.
Deposits and fuel
Hold a deposit per machine on the card at checkout and release it on return; charge fuel used from the card on file or include a fuel allowance in the hourly rate. The deposits and fuel guide walks through the models.
Launch logistics
A departures board on a phone or tablet shows who is out, on which machine, back when, and whether their paperwork is signed. Check riders in from the board, note the fuel level at launch, and the board tells the crew who is due back in the next fifteen minutes.
Online booking from the start
Most jet ski customers book from a phone the same day. The booking page should show hourly slots, take the deposit, and send the waivers, without a call. Embed it on your own site and list on the marketplace as a second front door.
