A card hold before the unit leaves, released when it is back.
Pre-authorization holds or refundable deposits, balance at the counter on a reader, itemised damage, fuel, cleaning and late charges, and QuickBooks sync per booking.
Payments and deposits for equipment rental
For an account customer, a hold on the card is cleaner than cash: nothing changes hands, the hold releases the moment the unit is checked in, and a damage charge is itemised with photos. Share Marketplace holds pre-authorizations on Stripe or Square, takes balances on a reader at the counter or by link, and records every payment on the booking.
Fuel, cleaning, blades used, late return and damage are charged from the return checklist against the hold or the card on file, each with a receipt. Invoices and receipts email from the booking and the accounting lines sync to QuickBooks.

Questions about a card hold before the unit leaves, released when it is back.
Can I take a deposit in cash?
Yes. Refundable deposits are recorded on the booking whichever way they were taken; card holds are the cleaner default.
How is damage charged?
From the return checklist: an itemised amount with photos, taken from the hold or the card on file, with a receipt to the renter.
